I think the series would benefit if it had more rounds in as 5 did seem to be over rather fast maybe 8 or so, and all rounds made to count

I'd like to see another 2 day meeting added :D

More 2 dayers.
30 min finals.
Practice heat.
Im thinking, if it was over 2 days, then we would have enough time on the first day to have a practice or longer finals.

yes its very hard turning up at a track you have never raced on before, and only 3, 5min heats to get dialed in so 2 day events would be great

If the following has already been decided upon:

The Truggy National will consist of 5 rounds 4/5 to count with 1 round being a 2 day event. Qualiifying will be Round by Round. Race entry will be at £11.50 per round, with the 2 day meeting at £15. Entry will open in the New Year and race dates will be announced shortly after the RallyCross Section announce their dates.

2 Day meeting will be qualifying on the first day, and Christmas Tree Finals on day 2.

Then all I would ask is for as many 30 minute finals as possible. Having said that if you're using the round by round qualifying system and you intend to award points for qualifying as well as the race then a 4th qualifying heat and 20 minute finals would get my vote. If its no points for qualifying then longer finals.

Continue with the 4 bump up spots. I thought the format on race days this year worked well.

we did our best this year to give 20 min finals to all.. you all pay the same entry fee and all deserve as long as final as is possible

we also had longer warm up on first round of heats so time to learn the track a little for everyone

Another 2 day event would be good? As mentioned above....MORE TRACK TIME!!

2 day events sound good , but not Xmass tree finals, as lower grade drivers will get less run time. I must say thou, I have never done Xmass tree meetings so we will have to see. 2 day meetings like Herts ran last year was great.

I would like to see a ref on the rostrum (if your giving out penalties) and all rounds run as they did at Clanfield, that guy sure knows how to run a meeting (no affence to any other track who held a meeting last year).

we will try to have as long a finals as possible esp at the two day event last years as you know we managed 20 min for all at most meetings but depends on the weather and the amount of racers and any possible hold ups on the day

a fast turn around of getting off rostrum down to marshall will speed up any meeting so every one needs to be quick then we can get more in

we would like to have a ref at meetings but its finding some one willing to do this is the hard work

l;ast year was great this year promises to be even better dont forget with xmas tree finals you have a greater chance of bump up as well and moving up to the next round of finals

good luck and l;ooking forward to see ing you all:)

Who is has registered for this season?
There seems to be very little interest compared to last year. Where is all the chat and banter for the coming season?

Surely there is someone I know racing 2009?

Hi Neil,

This is my first Truggy Nats and was wondering what the deal is with practice? will the tracks be open on the saturdays for practice ?

Thanks
Karl

Neil McRae

No, the tracks are not open for practise. Most of the tracks run a warm up meeting the week before. There is no practise round as it stands. We run a long warm up session on the first qualifier.

its only a fair way of doing it norm 4 min warm up on first round

by all means visit tracks prior to national

we at herst have modular layout so will be fresh for the meet

however prior visits will find suitable set ups and help a little

Hi guys

Went to my first truggy nationals this weekend and had a great time. Scince then ive come up with a few mods that i want to do for the truggy. Ive read the rules and it doesnt mention that you must use an engine but also doesnt mention brushless. can i compete with a brushless car? Also could somebody a definition of what is classified as a wing please as i want to know if some of my designs are classed as wings and therefore have to have a max size.

Hopeing to have to have the first major mod ready for testing at frankly soon. if it enhances the performance il keep it on for clanfield round 2.

thanks
James

brushless is not ok, wings, there should be one wing at the back, dimensions are clear on this.

JamesVenom
06-05-2009, 15:19
thanks for the reply neil. I understand the wing dimensions rule, i was just wondering what is classed as a wing. for example i plan to test a pop up air brake. I guess there would be no problem as it isnt a wing?

Neil McRae

actually James, having re-looked at the rules, You can only use a nitro powered engine - apologies for the confusion.

JamesVenom
06-05-2009, 16:39
thanks neil. what about the pop up airbrake. it would jump up under suddern braking into the high speed corners and then drop into the back of the truck.

And would be completely useless over the jumps, where a normal "fixed" style wing helps the truggy in flight, unless you are thinking of adding this along with the "fixed" wing ?

JamesVenom
07-05-2009, 10:24
Thats right marky, have the normal fixed wing with a pop up air brake when braking. other wise il have to just have an ajustable angle on the rear wing. need clarification on what is defined as a wing first though.

James,
I'm ok with your air brake.

Reference the "No Frequency Clearance"

Is it possible to have a small area sectioned off, maybe next to race control. where if someone comes and asks permission, they can switch on their radio to check on things?

Reason I ask, is I use Ballistic Batteries 2700mah nimh rx packs, and the pack is so large, I have to have the connector outside the radio tray, and hence need to remove the radio tray to change the pack.
I had an issue with one on monday morning, and as above, had to remove the tray, and despite centreing servos before removing it, the only time I found out that they were way off was immediately prior to my final, when the previous race finished, and radios were allowed to be switched on.

Just been reading on another forum and it appears that some of the top finishers were using tyres (LRP) that are not commercially available as per the rules, I'm sure they would have done just as well on other tyres but this does show bad sportsmanship at this level, i also appreciate that they are probably not aware that they are'nt available yet as these tyres will just be handed to them but the sponsers should have known.

Neil McRae
09-05-2009, 18:43
what makes you think the tyres aren't available?

patriotboy
09-05-2009, 18:54
Can't find them listed as available anywhere... and the front page of the SMD site has them labelled as 'Coming Soon', which implies not commercially available at the time the race was run, and seems to be to be not in the spirit (or letter) of the rules.
